Women look the oldest at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday
Women look their oldest at 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday, a new study claims.
The research conducted by a tanning brand St. Tropez found that accumulated work stress coupled with plunging energy levels and effects of weekend drinking starts to take its toll by mid-week, according to British media.
“It’s fascinating that 3:30 p.m. on a Wednesday is the time women look their oldest. Combine the highest stress levels of the week on a Wednesday with the natural mid-afternoon slump and it seems that’s why women can look older than their years,” St. Tropez’s skin expert Nichola Joss told the Telegraph.
However, only about 12 percent of women who participated in the study replied that Wednesday was the most stressful day of the week. Joss added that alcohol intake during the weekends can also strain the body, as the effects of drinking alcohol can take up to 72 hours to kick in.
She also said 37 percent of women have trouble sleeping on Monday nights, which can also have negative effect on their skin on Wednesday.
“The effects of a lack of sleep can take 48 hours to show on the face, so if many women sleep badly on Monday, they will look their oldest on Wednesday,” she said.
After the gloomy Wednesday, however, women are “most likely to feel amorous” on Thursday evening as the stress level begins to decrease, according to the study.
The study implied that their moods would continue to improve as the week progresses: 60 percent of woman said Friday was their happiest day of the week.
